The Blue Flag Program is an educational program for sustainable development, promoted in Portugal by the European Blue Flag Association (ABAE), the Portuguese section of the Foundation for Environmental Education.

In the bathing areas the criteria involved are: information and environmental education, water quality, environmental management and equipment, safety and services.
